Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: e Wind Stength: 12/18 Surf / Sea State: big and flat Air Temperature: 17 Sea Temperature: 16 Weather: sunny Max Speed: 24.47 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 32.79 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
September is here and summer has returned with sunshine all day !!!! With a
nice onshore breeze I was able to get to The Dip just before and rigged big
and set off down the coast, it wasn't overly windy sailing broad but you
could run down the back of the swell and get planing.I was heading straight
for the tower at Walton on the Naze and decided to sail over to it !!! The
River Orwell crossing across the shipping channel was big as usual !!! but
I made it okay :) I made it to the tower and then decided to sail to the
end of Walton pier for good measure - thats a 10 mile reach :) On turning
it was a beat and the wind seemed stronger and the board railed well :) I
then turned at the point just past the tower and headed into the river that
leads to Titchmarsh Marina, emptied the stones from my shoes and had a
great beat back again crossing the really bumpy shipping channel with no
big ships in sight :) On reaching The Dip I saw some kiters out in the
river and headed up to see them, the river was glassy smooth and the wind
picked up and I managed to break 20 kts for the first time and managed a
get a half decent average as the sun was setting :) This could be the spot
for me to break 30 kts on my Cat just need a little more wind, the wind e
to ne and low water !!! I made it back to the van a 7:45 and packed up just
before it got dark - a great 3 hours sailing in the sun :) and I was the
only windsurfer out :(
